Debra Shapiro, the Clarice Smith Professor of Management and Organization at the University of Maryland, received the 2023 International Association for Conflict Management's Lifetime Achievement Award.
Debra is an AOM Past President, member of numerous AOM Committees, winner of the AOM Career Achievement Award and William H. Newman Award for Best Dissertation, and a member of the CM and OB divisions.
Rajshree Agarwal, Rudolph Lamone Chair of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and Director of the Ed Snider Center for Enterprise and Markets at the University of Maryland, was appointed to the Federal Economic Statistics Advisory Committee. It advises the directors of the Department of Commerce's statistical agencies (the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau) and the commissioner of the Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Rajshree was the recipient of the AMJ Best Article Award in 2005 and a member of the ENT, STR, and TIM divisions.
University of Galway’s Professor Alma McCarthy has been recognized for her contribution to academia, research, and leadership and honored with the Fellowship of the Irish Academy of Management. Alma, Dean of the University’s J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics, was awarded the prestigious Fellowship at the Irish Academy of Management annual conference, held at the University, for her remarkable achievements and dedication to her field and contributions which serve as inspiration to academics, professionals, and aspiring leaders across Ireland.

Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business has appointed Charles Dhanaraj as academic director of its Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program. In this role, Charles' responsibilities include enhancing Robinson’s global reputation for producing practitioner-researchers working as senior-level decision-makers in business as graduates of the college’s professional doctoral program.
Bringing with him decades of experience as an academic leader, Charles has taught in institutions across the world, spanning countries such as India, Singapore, Canada, Switzerland, and the U.S. He joins Robinson from the University of Denver.
University Of Amsterdam Appoints Professor Of HRM and People Analytics At The ABS. The Executive Board (CvB) has appointed Corine Boon as professor of HRM & People Analytics at the Amsterdam Business School (ABS). Corine's research focuses mainly on the design and implementation of strategic HRM in organizations, people analytics, and person-environment fit (the relationship between an individual’s characteristics and values and the environment in which they work). To better understand how organizations can use strategic HRM effectively, she uses advanced analytics techniques and data (for example, large data sets of companies, or text data). She also studies the consequences of Artificial Intelligence for HRM, managers and employees in organizations.

Anil K. Gupta, Michael D. Dingman Chair in Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business has received the 2023 CK Prahalad Award for Scholarly Impact on Practice from the Strategic Management Society (SMS)
The award, established in 2011, recognizes “excellence in the application of theory and research in practice” and “contributions [that] have shaped the understanding of global strategic leadership.”
According to SMS, Gupta’s “work in the areas of globalization and global strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship, and digital strategy lies at the intersection of important phenomena in strategic management, key theoretical ideas, and grounded empirical work.”
Gupta has addressed the World Economic Forum multiple times on globalization and on high growth markets such as India and China. Ranked by Thinkers50 as one of the “world’s most influential management thinkers,” he also is one of just
three professors elected by his peers as a Lifetime Fellow of the world’s three most prestigious bodies of scholars in the field – Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society, and Academy of International Business.
